Trying to decide what to get your runner for the holidays?
Here is a gift guide with some ideas for what to get the runner in your life (and what not to do).
Given how much runners loooove their shoes and clothes, you may be tempted to go that direction. Unless you are really sure about their preferences and needs, I’d recommend steering clear. Runners are very particular about shoe and clothing brands and fit.
Here are some gifts suggestions that can make your runner’s life better:
If your runner enjoys early morning or evening runs, visibility gear is essential. This is especially true during these short days when daylight hours are scarce. A lighted vest ensures that you can be seen by cars, other pedestrians, or anything else in your path during your run.
My personal recommendation is the Noxgear tracer vest with the lamp. This provides long-range 360degree visibility. Adding the lamp enhances visibility of the path in front of them. This is a key safety gear feature and added peace of mind for both you and your runner.
If also happen to have a furry, four-footed runner on your list, they have lighted gear for them as well.

Gels, chews, hydration, and snacks
Another option for the runner in your life is all of the things that fuel their running lifestyle. This is a place where personal preference also plays a major role. That’s why one of my recommendations here is actually a gift card to the The Feed. The Feed is a great site that offers a myriad of options for fueling workouts and allows folks to mix and match, meaning you can try multiple different types and brands. A gift certificate to The Feed is always a great gift.

Resistance bands
A good set of circular resistance bands are great for a runner to have in their arsenal. They can be used of injury rehab, preventative strengthening, and are great to take on the go. A set of 3-5 with different levels of resistance is versatile for any runner.
Myofascial release ball
One of my favorite tools for loosening tight spots and increasing mobility. It can be used to target specific areas that tend to get tight on runners, such as the hips and calves. More targeted than a foam roller, it works for both isometric and movement release and can get into smaller areas. For those new to this, I recommend a slightly softer ball with a bit more give.
